Carlos Baguer was a Spanish composer and organist born in Manresa in 1768 and died in Barcelona in 1808. He was a child prodigy who started playing the organ and composing music at a young age. He studied music in the Conservatory of Barcelona and later became the organist of the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona.

Baguer was one of the most important composers of keyboard music in Spain during the late 18th century. He composed a great number of keyboard sonatas (more than 350), as well as other instrumental works such as symphonies, concertos, and chamber music. His music is characterized by its virtuosity and expressivity, and it shows the influence of the classical style of his time.

Despite his talent and success as a composer, Baguer's life was marked by tragedy. He suffered from a serious mental illness, which led to his hospitalization in a mental institution for the last 18 years of his life. However, his music has continued to find appreciation and recognition among classical music lovers, and his keyboard music is still performed and recorded today.
